Halcyon String Quartet presents "Listen"
Saturday, August 3rd at 7PM
Join Halcyon String Quartet on Saturday, August 3rd at 7PM for Listen - an evening of beautiful music, community voices, and stop-motion animation. Performed at the Broad Bay Church in Waldoboro, Listen pairs excerpts from community interviews with music and film to reflect on the shared values of finding common ground as we collectively work to strengthen our communities and our relationships with each other and the natural world. Weaving together words from students, educators, artists, loggers, ecologists, and legislators, Listen inspires audiences to make a practice of listening, connecting, and working towards understanding as we move towards building a more just future. The program will feature folk tunes from Scandinavia, music from South Africa, Radiohead, and Philip Glass. Admission is by donation with all proceeds benefiting the Midcoast Conservancy, Georges River Land Trust, and Broad Bay Church. To learn more, visit halcyonstringquartet.org.
About Halcyon:
Halcyon is a nonprofit organization, string quartet, and artist collective based in Midcoast Maine. As musicians, artists, filmmakers, animators, advocates, and storytellers, we strive to share our love of music in ways that foster connection, community, vibrancy, joy, warmth, and accessibility. Our programs are built on partnerships with local community organizations and folks from all walks of life. We collaborate with scientists, artists, students, actors, composers, poets, and educators to create performances that invite audiences to feel, celebrate, reflect, and respond collectively to the world around them. Halcyon's upcoming season includes collaborations with Maine's Poet Laureate Julia Bouwsma, composer Nathan Davis, vocalists Sarah Tuttle and Aaren Rivard, Arctic scientist and climate advocate Susana Hancock, and students and educators at three local high schools.
